A story of shepherds come from the fields,
Saying an angel drew near?
Why did the angel say, “Peace on Earth?”
All around is war and dying.
Can this little baby really be succor
For all of humanity’s crying?
I’ll go there myself, and see it right now.
Where will the baby be found?
What! In a manger, ‘round back of the inn?
With a donkey and cattle around?
Questions are answered. I know why you care.
Seeing him makes it all clear.
Not just a boy — or a carpenter’s son.
