This question was submitted anonymously: “Hey Bob! I have a question for your ‘Ask Bob’ series. Of course if you don’t want to use it, it will not upset me! :)
Here it is…Sometimes I can get very insecure about things in my life, my marriage, my parenting, my body, my faith, you name it! Sometimes it can take me to many dark, dark places. I often hear people say that Satan knows our worst insecurities and greatest temptations. Is it true that he knows me that intimately? Are our dark thoughts actually placed in our heads by the devil and his demons, or is it just our human brokenness? What does the Bible say about the role that the devil plays in our sin? How much control does he actually have?
Thank you Bob! I love reading your stuff, it is such a blessing to so many people! As well as your ability to love everyone, despite their choices.”
(My reply): Precious friend, of course I want to use this question! That is an amazing, wonderful question! Thank you!
To begin: I answered part of your question when I published “Can Satan Read Our Minds?” In order to keep this present article at a reasonable length, I’m not going to repeat those points here. I’ll only summarize, without presenting the reasons contained in the other article.
