Member-only story
A friend shared something from the heart, privately, deeply, and asked me to pray. I wrote this prayer for my friend. But wait — you’re my friend — and perhaps you would like to pray this prayer, too.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 and 6
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
…
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,..
Father, I marvel at your ability to
Leave things imperfect and undone!
You are so patient, God.
How long will it take, before your plan is fulfilled,
Your vision realized?
You are willing to assign to us
Tasks of immense proportion,
With consequences that affect lifetimes.
You trust us with children,
Which we imperfectly raise.
We try to model your ways, your thoughts,
But they are not our ways, our thoughts,
And we fall short.
When I fall,
You pick me up,
You dust me off,
You wash me,
You heal me,
And you say,
“Try again.”
