“I always get to where I’m going by walking away from where I’ve been.”
— Winnie the Pooh
In Genesis 19:1–29, a man named Lot had to walk away from a dark place, a harmful place. He was told to look forward, and not back.
Listen. God has called you to a hope and a future. To get there, you only need to walk away from the dark, harmful place where you’ve been.
Sometimes, it’s frightening to walk away from the old, familiar ways, places, and people. The important thing to remember is that what God brings you to is always better than what God saves you from.
So, go on. Start walking. You’re not alone, you know. One of Jesus’ beautiful names is Emmanuel. And Emmanuel means, “God with us.”
