This is a very difficult Bible quiz. There is only one question. Do you know the answer?
To start the quiz, read the following passage from Matthew’s gospel. The translation printed here is from the New International Version, but if you prefer to use some other version, that’s okay. Using a different version won’t affect the question, or the correct answer.
The quiz is not timed. Take as long as you like. There’s only one question, but it’s a hard, hard question. If you want to meditate on it for a few days before answering, that’s okay.
The quiz is “open book.” You can search the rest of the Bible for the answer. You can use other resource materials: commentaries, lexicons, concordances, whatever you need. You can ask your Pastor or Priest, or a trusted friend. You can even use the Internet.
The quiz is based on the passage below, which is Matthew 26:36–45.
Ready? Begin.
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
